Use your dictionary to check the meanings of the words. Write down any other forms of these words.  Write down any collocations, phrases or sentences connecting these words and the idea of family.

Discussion
Reflect on the following questions or discuss them with a partner.

  1. How many people are there in your family?
  2. Do you have many relatives?
  3. In your country do people tend to have small or large families?
  4. Has this changed over the last 100 hundred years, do you know?
  5. How important are families in any society?
