The Test

You will spend about 11 to 14 minutes completing the Speaking module of the IELTS test with an examiner.

 

The Speaking module consists of three parts. In Part 1, you will meet the examiner and answer questions on a familiar topic. In Part 2, you will speak for one to two minutes on a particular topic, given on a candidate task card. You will have one minute to prepare for this part. In Part 3, you will take part in a further discussion of the Part 2 topic with the examiner.

You will be assessed on:

  • Fluency and Coherence (e.g. logical sequencing of ideas and sentences)
  • Lexical Resource (Vocabulary)
  • Grammatical Range and Accuracy
